Introduction
This stonestupa has been preserved in the Outdoor Museum of the Kyungpook National University. The thing that had been in the company housing
of the Japanese Sochangmujijo, who had resided inside the Daegu City, was moved to the present location. As a masterpiece regarding which the
special feature of the octagonal circle-type budo (The Tower That Enshrines the Buddha’s Sari) in the Goryeo Dynasty is displayed well,
compared to the tapsin (A part of the body of a tower) and the okgae (The rooftop stones), the stylobate part has an obese feeling. However,
it gives the stable and solemn feeling. Above the foundation stones, there are the hadae (Making a Buddha’s pedestal in the lower part of the
lotus flowers), the jungdae (Making a Buddha’s pedestal at the center of the lotus flowers), and sangdae (Making a Buddha’s pedestal in the
upper part of the lotus flowers). And the hadaeseok (a stone pedestal placed under a stone lantern) and the jungdaeseok (a stone pedestal
placed at the center of a stone lantern) show the distinct characteristics of the Goryeo Dynasty the best. The jungdaeseok has 8 angles. The
dragon pattern had been sculptured on the surface that is nearly a circle. It makes one peep into the representative artistic sense of the
master craftsmen at the time. The hadaeseok is a square. 24 plates of the bokyeon (plaster) had been sculpted at 6 plates each on each side.
On each side of the main body of the stone stupa with the 8 angles, there are the corner trees. And, on the 4 sides, the FourDevas Standing
Statue had been sculpted. The Roof of Stone Stupa, too, has 8 angles. The udong is clear in the upper part. And the slope is steep. On the
sangryunbu (The top part of the pagoda), a boryun-type stone on which a lotus had been sculpted is placed.

Introduction
Entirely, by having the plane with the 8 angles as the basic, it materializes each part. And it is in the form of putting up a part of the
body of a tower and the roof stones above a stylobate, which is materialized with the 3 tiers. The stylobate, which was put up above the
square floor stones, is divided into the below, middle, and above supporting stones. On the side of the below supporting stone, a lion had
been carved. And, on the above side, the clouds had been three-dimensionally sculpted. The low, middle supporting stone rounded off the
corners. And, on each side, the appearance of playing a musical instrument had been engraved. Regarding the above supporting stone, the middle
band was turned around. And, on the below and above sides, the lotus that is simple, honest, and, yet, big lotus had been sculpted. The tapsin
(A part of the body of the tower), which enshrines a sari is low. And, in the corners, the shapes of the pillars had been engraved. And, on
the front and back sides, the shapes of the doors which have the door locks had been sculpted. And, on the remaining sides, the Statue of
theFourWarriorSpirits and thestatue of the Bodhisattva had been sculpted. Regarding the wide roof stones, the incense burner and the imageofa
flying fairy had been beautifully engraved on the below side. And, in the eaves part, there is a sculpture that had finely modeled the double,
common rafters according to the roof form of the wooden architecture. On the above side, the lotus flowers are surrounded. And, on the 4 sides
above it, a roadbed (a head ornament support), which sculpted a Kalavinka (Animaginarybirdwithsweetnotes (referred to) in Buddhist sutras.),
which is a bird that is said to live in the paradise of Buddhism, has been raised. Although a part of the roof stones is broken and does not
remain in the intact condition, this seung tower is a beautiful work of art because the proportion between the above and the below fits well.
The sculptures of each part are magnificent and extraordinary. And a special feature of the Goryeo Dynasty has been represented well. As a
thing that had moved the company housing of a Japanese in Daegu to the Kyungpook National University Museum, the site where the original seung
tower had been erected and the protagonist of this seung tower are in the condition of not being able to be known.

Introduction
The Grayish-blue-powderedCeladon is a very unique ceramic that appeared with the form, the design, and the structure that are different from
the white porcelain while the inlaid celadon had been declining at the end of the Goryeo Dynasty. The name was derived from the Hwecheong
Porcelain, which had been dressed up with the white clay, or, in other words, from the word‘Buncheong Hwecheong Porcelain’. And it is, also,
called “Buncheong”. Regarding this bottle, which has the height of 19.1cm, the hole diameter of 5.7 cm, and the bottom diameter of 10 cm,
excluding the fact that the stamped designs on which the designs were stamped uniformly and the makeup method that covers the surface with the
white clay had been used, which is peculiar to the Buncheong Porcelain, because it has the texture that has no difference from the Goryeo
Celadon, it looks to be a work of art in the beginning of the Joseon Dynasty. Taking a look at the design, a band with the shape of a bead was
put around below a hole. And, on the shoulder parts, a small chrysanthemum design was stamped. And, on the circumference, by inlaying the
lotus design, the boundary was made. At the flat place in front of and behind the belly part, a flower in the form of a diamond was made with
the shape of a bead. And, inside, a lotus that had been inlaid in black and white had been put in by being engraved. On the both sides, a vine
design had been inlaid in black with the thing on which the design of a chrysanthemum was stamped as the background. In the bottom part, a
lotus had been inlaid. And, in the surroundings of the heel, a band with the shape of a bead was put around. The Grayish-blue-powderedCeladon
Inlaid Lotus Design Flat Bottle is interesting because it has the vine design, which is at both sides of the body, and because it has the
boundaries of the lotus in the shoulder part in the background color just the way it is. Because, compared to the size of the body, the
bending legs are high, it has the stable posture. And the proportions, too, of each part have been materializing the harmony.

Introduction
The original name of Suneungeomgyeong is ‘Daebuljeongyeoraemilinsujeungyoeuijebosalmanhaengsuneungeomgyeong’. And it is a scripture that is
indispensably learned by the Buddhist monks in the process of the training. Without stopping at understanding the words of Buddha in the head,
having the power by directly learning by oneself is the main ideology. As a thing that had transcribed a Buddhist scripture with the
silver-colored handwriting on the paper that had been made with the hemp cloth, this
BaekjieunnidaebuljeongyeoraemilinsujeungyoeuijebosalmanhaengsuneungeomgyeongVolume 10 is the last volume among the 10 volumes of
theShurangamaSutra (The SutraoftheHeroicOne). It is in the form which can be seen by unfolding like a folding screen. And the size when folded
is the width of 30.5 cm and the length of 11.2 cm. At the present, it is in the condition of the cover having disappeared. And, because the
color of the silver-colored handwriting had faded, it is a little black. At the very end part of the book, there is a record that says that
Lee, Bang-han had made it in order to pray for the soul of his mother, who died, in the year 1365. Also, the records, too, which had written
the sounds of the difficult Chinese characters, have been shown. It is seen that these records are the things that pertain to all of the 10
volumes of the Neungeomgyeong. Although the handwriting is not on such a high level, the period of the making is clear. And the point that it
had used the paper that had been made with the hemp cloth heightens the value.

Introduction
As the Seated Stone Buddha that is in the Kyungpook National University Museum, the Stone Vairocana Seated Buddha Statue is a work of art that
shows the typical form of the Vairocana Buddha, which had spread in the latter part of Unified Silla. On the head, the hair in the shape of a
small conch was attached. And, compared to the body, the face is big and round. Compared to the fact that the face of the VairocanaBuddha at
the time was neat and, at the same time, had the solemn impression, the face of this statue of the Buddha is voluptuous. And the smile around
the eyes and the mouth is a special feature. The clothes have been thickly wrapping both shoulders. And the clothes wrinkles have the
appearance of having been formally handled. Because the shoulders are narrow, it is the appearance of the build having become markedly
undersized. And both feet have been raised on the knees. And he has been sitting with the posture of his soles of the feet being directed
toward the sky. The hands have the appearance of wrapping the index finger of the left hand with the right hand. It is the ordinary shape of
the hands that the VairocanaBuddha has. Regarding the halo, which embodies the light that comes out from the body of the Buddha, with the
shape of a ship, it was expressed very big compared to the statue of the Buddha. In the halo, 5 small Buddhas, who have been putting the hands
together by gathering the two hands, had been engraved. And, at the edges, the flame patterns had been expressed delicately. Although, on the
pedestal with the 8 angles, on which the statue of the Buddha has been sitting, the splendid flower designs, animal statues, etc. had been
engraved, it is the appearance of having been handled considerably formally. From the narrow shoulders, the flat chest, the small build, the
shapes of the clothes, etc., as a work of art that has been showing the general features of the VairocanaBuddha at the time well, it looks
like it had been made at a time that is similar to the Stone Vairocana Buddha (Treasure No. 244) at the Donghwa Temple, which had been made in
the 3rd year (the year 863) of the King Gyeongmun of Silla.

Introduction
As a stone monument regarding which a memorandum of the records of the construction of a bank that had been built inside the Daegu Basin was
made, the construction period has been estimated to be the 3rd year (the year 578) of the King Jinji of Silla, which had been the Year of the
Dog. Although the letters are engraved on thefront side of the tombstone, the actual circumstance is that the deciphering is difficult, except
for a part. After the discovery in Daean-dong in Jung-gu, Daegu City, in the year 1946, regarding the thing that was lost because of the
Korean War, it is a thing that had been relocated to the present location by being rediscovered at the school campus of the Kyungpook National
University College of Education Attached High School in the year 1957, which was 7 years later. This tombstone had been made by roughly
trimming only the front side of a natural stone, which was a granite that was close to the oval. And the epitaph had been engraved in the
six-clad typeface, which used the idu text in a mixed way

Introduction
It is a thing that had moved and placed a thing that had been next to a rock-carved, sitting Buddha statue in Bukji-ri to the Kyungpook
National University in 1966. The upper half of the body with the height of around 1.6 meters broke and disappeared. And, although only the
lower half of the body and the round, lotus-design footrest that had been made with a different stone remain, it is a work of art that had
been made through an excellent sculpturing technique. The upper half of the body looks like the clothes have been taken off. And the clothes
that are expressed in the lower body are very thin. The right leg that was raised and placed above the left knee is very big. And, by making
the knees sour up high, they have been emphasized. Below the leg that was raised and placed, the clothes wrinkles flow softly in 3 layers. The
lines are clear and distinct. Next to these, there is a big, rectangular look, and there is a splendid bead decoration. Because, on the back
side of the Buddha statue, only the clothes wrinkles have been expressed simply, one can know that it had been sculpted by being centered on
the front side. The footrest has the discus form at around 70 cm. And the 7 leaves of the lotus that is directed to below had been engraved.
This Buddhistimagesitting cross-legged can be compared with the Gold-Bronze Bodhisattva Statue, which is National Treasure No. 83, in terms of
the form aspect. And the position of the left hand, the expansion of the right knee, the factual clothes wrinkles, the splendid bead
decoration, etc. show the extraordinary sculpturing technique. As a result, overall, it is dignified. And it is considered as a work of art
from the middle period of the 7th century which shows a unique and factual expression method which emphasizes the volume.

Introduction
The Guam-dong Ancient Tombs have been created in a large size on a ride on the western side of the Hamji Mountain in Buk-gu, Daegu, from which
the Palgeo Plain is seen at one eye. Above the ridge on the hill, the large-sized part is positioned. And, in the whole area of the slope, the
small-sized part is positioned. Therefore, a total of 379 units have been distributed. As the chiefs-class tombs in the Chilgok region of the
Silla Period in the 5th century and the 6th century, they are the biggest-sized ancient tombs in Daegu. And the internal structure called “the
red stone wall parts” is an unusual structure that has not been confirmed among the ancient tombs of Silla and Gaya. ※ In the case of a group
with 10 or more persons, the visit is possible through a telephone reservation with the Visit Information Office (T. 053-325-2344) of the
Guam-dong Ancient Tombs and the Palgeo Mountain Fortress.
